on the restoration of Vin #6463.
The whole saga really started after the Back To The Future films, and the start in an interest in Cars, Different cars ;-). Always wanting to be slightly different with my cars I went through, a Mini, Fiat Strada, Nissan Stanza, Escort MKIII RS Turbo, Audi Quattro, Then the first offer to buy a Delorean, Which I turned down due to price, and Purchased a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. Then a move to Northern Ireland through work, a purchase of the BTTF films rekindled the desire for a Delorean.
"So how do I find out more?" I asked myself.......Google!!!! came the reply... And so the Delorean search began. To my surprise there were many sites, However the one that caught my eye most obviously was DOC UK or the Delorean Owners Club UK. So in I went and found a mountain of info, and swiftly joined the Club. Within days I had a very Friendly letter From Chris Parnham with my membership bits loads of reading material and most interesting of all ,this event due to happen called Eurofest 2001,
This is where I will find the car for me, I thought.....
At Eurofest I met Nick, the owner of a Delorean that had stood rotting for 2 1/2 years, with no time due to commitments to be restored. After spending an hour or so with Nick I could see the fire for these car starting to really burn in his eyes. "But mine needs a new chassis as it's totally rusted, and the engine rocks 8" on its mounts" " Get it fixed " I said. "Too costly" was the reply.
A few weeks later Nicks car was up for sale, He had bought a new one. Hmm, shall I?? I thought. YES. So the story really begins.
Five phone calls to Nick, some pictures e-mailed to me, and that was it I was off to see the car. Long story short, I looked the car over, mulled over my ability, agreed a price, AND THE DELOREAN WAS MINE. Hired a trailer and went and picked it up two weeks later.
