Interior Restoration

Old interior
My car has sat for some time with the sun slowly drying out the interior, The worst of it has to be the seats, both dried and cracked with holes and tears. The dashboard is cracked by the a pillar on the passenger side  and where the speaker grills are, they have been cut out so a previous owner could install after market speakers. Time to set to work..........
Old seat
It has to be said that the worst part of the interior was clearly the seats. As soon as you open a door your eyes were immediately drawn to the cracked, dull and torn leather and vinyl. I therefore set out to find a car restorer or upholsterer that could recover my seats
After two calls around Belfast, I came across Interior Trim, a company that now refits Airliners. Whilst talking to them I discovered that the MD was the same guy that ran CP Trim
,
The Company that originally fitted Deloreans at Dunmurry back in '81 / '82
New Seat
Their interest in restoring my seats was enough to create new patterns for each part. The hardest part was to match the colour. I contacted Bridge of Weir who were the original supplier of the leather and vinyl  and they could no longer match the grey. After much searching we found a Jaguar Leather that was close enough. It was at this point I made the decision to have the whole seat recovered in leather not just the centre panels. Both seat were done for the out-standing price of £300.
As you can see to the left the result is second to none and the improvement is just phenomenal.

New Interior
The whole interior has had a good clean with Aotoglym products, Deep cleaners and shampoo. I have also cleaned all carpet sections. The seats are a slightly different colour to the rest of the interior, so I will have the dash, binnacle and centre console recovered in the same colour leather.

Finally I've 'Bit the Bullet' and fitted my new speakers and amp in the back of the car, these can be seen in the next three photo's. They are 16 cm Kenwood Speakers and a Longmill amplifier.

I have also at the same time , Sound deaden the entire rear bulk head with  a mixture of  Dyna-mat extreme and 1" thick sound proof matting. This has done two things, Reduced engine noise in the cabin area and enhanced the speaker performance with zero vibration.

Front speakers have been changed to 8 cm JBL's  as of yet non amplified, however I do have a small 35w per channel Kenwood amp that will fit nicely up under the dash, watch this space.!!!!!!
